1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using UnboundChat, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

UnboundChat is an AI chat application that allows you to interact with various AI models through third-party API providers. The app operates on a local-first model, storing your data primarily on your device. Optional cloud sync and subscription features are available.

3. User Accounts

UnboundChat can be used without creating an account. Optional accounts are available for cloud sync and subscription management:

• You may create an account using email, Google, Sign in with Apple on supported devices, or an anonymous recovery phrase
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and recovery phrase
• If you lose your recovery phrase, we cannot recover your account or encrypted data

4. API Keys and Third-Party Services

UnboundChat connects to third-party AI providers using keys you provide or, where offered, a limited app-managed free-tier route:

• You are responsible for obtaining and managing your own API keys when you use bring-your-own-key features
• You must comply with the terms of service of each API provider you use (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Google, etc.)
• You are responsible for any costs incurred through your API usage
• Free-tier availability, model access, and limits may change or be withdrawn; provider terms still apply
• We are not liable for any issues arising from third-party API services, including outages, data handling, or billing disputes

5. Subscriptions and Payments

a) UnboundChat Pro

UnboundChat Pro is an optional subscription on platforms where it is offered. Android purchases use Google Play. Windows web billing may be offered when configured. Apple builds do not offer Pro: they are bring-your-own-key apps with all features unlocked and may offer an optional consumable Tip Jar that unlocks nothing.

b) Billing

• Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) depending on the plan you select
• Android subscription payments are processed through Google Play; Windows subscription payments use Stripe-powered RevenueCat web billing where offered
• Apple Tip Jar purchases are optional, non-recurring App Store consumables and do not change app features
• Prices are displayed in your local currency and may vary by region

c) Free Trials

On subscription platforms, we may offer free trial periods for Pro features. Trial eligibility is limited to one trial per user account. At the end of the trial period, access to Pro features will be restricted unless you subscribe.

d) Cancellation and Refunds

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your platform store account settings or the Stripe billing portal
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• Refund policies are governed by the respective platform store (Google Play for subscriptions, Apple for tips) or Stripe
• After cancellation, you retain access to Pro features until the end of the paid period, followed by a short grace period for data migration

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Interfere with or disrupt the app's services or servers
• Use the app to generate content that violates the terms of the underlying AI providers
• Share or redistribute your subscription access to unauthorized users
• Abuse the cloud sync service (e.g., using it as general-purpose file storage)

7. Intellectual Property

UnboundChat and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by UnboundChat and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Content you create using the app (conversations, generated text, images) belongs to you, subject to the terms of the AI providers used to generate that content.

8. Your Data

• Your conversations and data are stored locally on your device by default
• If you enable cloud sync, your data is end-to-end encrypted before being transmitted
• You retain your rights in content you provide, subject to applicable law and the terms of any provider used to process it
• The app provides controls to export supported local data, delete local items, and request cloud-account deletion
• Refer to our Privacy Policy for detailed information on data handling

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

UnboundChat is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated content
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app or third-party services
• The security of data transmitted to third-party AI providers
• Compatibility with all devices, operating systems, or configurations

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UnboundChat and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from your use of third-party API services, regardless of the cause of action or theory of liability.

11. Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify subscribers of significant changes that affect paid features. Any cancellation or refund is handled under the applicable store or billing-provider rules and mandatory law.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the cloud services at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use cloud sync and subscription features will cease. Local data is governed by the app's local identity and deletion controls; export anything you need before deleting an account or changing identity.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
